ALEXIS
BURCH
Aspiring journalist

Welcome to journalism portfolio. For three years I served as an online editor, writer, designer, photographer and videographer for Bryant High School's newspaper, Prospective. During my senior year, I began working as a writer and photographer for the Saline Courier, a local newspaper. I am currently a student at the University of Missouri to complete a degree in Documentary Journalism and a minor in Spanish. Please take the time to read every story, view every photo and let the people I have met impact you as much as they did me. These few years are the start to a lifetime career in which I can share the experiences of individuals through impartial, quality and in-depth reporting in order to open ears to unheard stories and perspectives.

FUTURE PLANS
I am currently pursuing a bachelors degree in Documentary Journalism at the University of Missouri while working toward a minor in Spanish.
Once I graduate and enter the workforce, I plan to cover politics as they directly affect minority communities through both written and video coverage. I have no preference in publication, though The Washington Post, The New York Times, VICE, Politico and The New Yorker are among my favorites.
After several years in the field, I want to travel to schools around the country and help them create strong scholastic journalism programs, eventually settling down to become an educator.
